The Pacifique Guide to Tan Tastic Perfection
24 Hours Before Defuzz!
Always wax or shave at least 24 hours prior to applying your Pacifique fake tan. This will allow the skin to calm down and settle before any self tanning products are applied.
Step 1 Exfoliate
Without doubt the most important stage in the fake tan process. By exfoliating you will remove all the top layers of dead skin that would otherwise flake off naturally and unevenly, meaning your new tan will come off as well. Through not exfoliating prior to applying any self tanning product, the uneven natural shedding of your dead skin cells leads to a patchy look which is easily avoided by exfoliating first.
Step 2 Tan up baby!
Pacifique recommend that you apply your self tanning product a few hours after a shower, giving time for your pores to close. Ensure you avoid washing with shower gels and soaps high in alkaline as your skin should be neutral when applying the products. Most normal shower gels are fine to use, its usually the medicated types that are to be avoided.
If you do have some areas of particularly dry skin, elbows, knees and heels are the usual culprits apply a light layer of moisturiser before you start tanning, this will help you achieve a patch free colour.
Apply your Pacifique self tanning product evenly all over the body, taking a section at a time. The key is too apply it evenly and not to heavily, remember when you first apply it you will see a guide colour that develops and deepens over 8 hours. Its always best to apply another application the next day if you want to go darker rather than applying too much in the first place.
If you are using Pacifiques tanning mist as you spray your body gravity will allow additional mist to cover your feet. Avoid a heavy application in this area as you will already have inadvertently covered the tops of your feet. The guide colour will help you with an even application in this area.
If you are using Pacifiques tanning Mousse we advise you to use tanning gloves when applying to help prevent your palms from getting tanned. You don’t have any gloves available as long as you scrub your hands with soap and hot water thoroughly after you’ve finished applying, this will help ensure your palms don’t get stained. Be careful not to splash water on your newly tanned bod as this will lead to non-tanned spots where the tan has been washed off.
It’s a good idea to wipe over your toes and finger nails after applying any tanning products as this will avoid staining and discolouration.
Although Pacifiques tanning products dry very quickly and are non-sticky it’s a good idea to wait for 5 to 10 minutes before getting dressed. Try to avoid tight fitting clothes or shoes until your tan has fully developed, bra straps can rub your tan off at this stage so opt for either a strapless version or loosen them to avoid this. (or feel free to leave it off completely!)
Many Pacifique fans apply their self-tanning products an hour or two before bedtime. As with all self-tanning products some colour will come off on your clothes and bedding but will wash off in a normal 40 degree wash. None of Pacifiques fake tan products permanently stain materials or skin!
Your lovely Pacifique tan will develop over the next 6 to 8 hours. During this period avoid showering or swimming as this will remove your tan before it has had time to develop. You should also avoid heavy exercise as heavy sweating will again remove your tan before it has developed fully.
When you do shower for the first time after your tan has fully developed the original guide colour will come off. Don’t worry this is completely normal. You will be left with a beautiful golden colour.
Step 3
The Key to a long lasting tan is regular moisturising. You should use a high quality moisturiser daily to keep your skin moisturised, this will stop your skin flaking prematurely.
Use of a tan extending moisturiser between self-tan applications will really help with keeping a long lasting lovely golden colour.
If you follow all of our suggested steps you can expect your lusciously golden Pacifique tan to last between 4 to 7 days.
